December 14, 2010 New Age Associates, Inc. is pleased to announce it has been accepted as a participating builder in the Pennsylvania Energy Efficient New Homes Program offered by FirstEnergy Corp.’s Pennsylvania utility companies – Metropolitan Edison, Pennsylvania Electric and Pennsylvania Power.
“We are very excited to be registered for participation in this important program,” says Harry McKean, Builder, New Age Associates. “The program will allow us to showcase our energy efficient homes and provide added value to our customers by providing third-party verified data on the performance of the house they are buying.”
The Pennsylvania Energy Efficient New Homes Program is intended to encourage builders and buyers of new homes within the utility companies’ service territories in the state to include energy efficiency as a design feature. To qualify for the program, a home must be at least 15 percent more energy efficient than current building codes require. Homes will receive a stringent evaluation conducted by an independent, certified home energy rater to determine whether they meet program requirements.
Energy efficient homes can same homebuyers thousands of dollars in energy costs over the life of the building. Investing in efficiency measures during construction can continue to provide payback for decades.
